When we think about exfoliating at home the mind goes straight to a scrub, right? Sure, but there are also other options which we will discuss in a sec. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

As a holistic skin clinic we like to treat skin with kindness, we prioritize the health of the skin barrier - those that know us will have heard us say "scrub only once a week if you must!" You see over-scrubbing, especially with physical bead-type exfoliants can upset the balance of the skin barrier, leading to freaked-out skin. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Gentle at-home exfoliating treatments, with a product recommended by your skin therapist, will guard against dullness and congestion. Here are a few of our faves, get in touch to see which is best suited to your skin.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

PHYSICAL SCRUBS. These are the traditional scrub with little beads, never plastic ones of course. We love Medik8 Pore Refining Scrub and Dermaviduals Peeling Cream. Both have physical and chemical exfoliants and can be left on the skin for 10 mins for extra exfoliating power. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

CHEMICAL SCRUBS. I can see you all freaking out at the "chemical" word...wait, come back! Not all chemicals are bad, some are our friends. Cleansers that contain small amounts of AHA/BHA acids allow us to exfoliate healthy skin daily without damaging our skin barrier. If you have compromised skin we recommend using active exfoliating cleansers only once or twice a week or waiting until your skin barrier is happy before introducing these. We move Medik8 Surface Radiance Cleanse as an anti-ageing option and Medik8 Clarifying Foam to pack an acne punch!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
